The 42nd Annual Southern African Transport Conference (SATC) will take place from July 8 to July 11, 2024, at the CSIR International Convention Centre (ICC) in Pretoria, South Africa. This year, the conference will focus on the theme "Upskilling and Reskilling the Transport Industry for Current and Future Challenges."
The SATC is the longest-running transport conference in the Southern African region and is widely recognized as a premier forum for discussing transport issues. It provides a platform for transport enthusiasts, professionals, and experts to network, share research, and engage in technology transfer. Additionally, the conference emphasizes capacity building through various courses.
Supported by the Department of Transport and the International Road Federation, the SATC aims to foster national and international dialogue on transport as a socio-economic development priority. It serves as a forum for discussing and exchanging information on transport policy, strategy, and technology applications across all transportation modes. The conference also seeks to enhance cooperation among public and private sector stakeholders to develop solutions and formulate action plans.
The conference attracts around 700 delegates each year, including funding agencies, government representatives, parastatals, policy-makers, academics, researchers, students, and professionals involved in various aspects of transportation such as planning, construction, logistics, and safety for passenger and freight transport across road, rail, maritime, and aviation sectors.
